Ferris State Men's Golf Finishes Tied For Second At UIndy Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team had another strong finish as the Bulldogs concluded play Tuesday (Sept. 26) with a second-place tying finish at the UIndy Invitational held in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Bulldogs, who started the day in second place in the 54-hole event, moved up to first place early in the final round before finishing with a 289 figure over the final 18 holes of competition. FSU finished the three-round tournament with a 856 stroke total, tying Wayne State for second place behind Grand Valley State.

FSU wrapped up the event at eight-under par and finished 11 strokes off the pace of team champion GVSU, which finished with a 19-under 845 score. The Bulldogs shot a 279 in round one along with a 288 in the second round before the final-round score of 289 overall.

A total of 16 schools from across the region took part in the tournament on Monday and Tuesday at the Broadmoor Country Club. The par 72 course measured 6,904 total yards.

A trio of Bulldog golfers wound up tied for seventh place with Caleb Bond, Adam Arif Madzri and McCoy Biagioli all recording 213 scores. Bond shot a 68 in round one followed by a 74 in round two and a one-under 71 in the final round while Mazri carded a 67 in the first round before back-to-back 73 scores to wrap up the event. Finally, Biagioli notched a 71 in round one with a 70 in the second round and an even-par 72 in the final round.

FSU's Nathan Kraynyk finished tied for 21st with a 218 score on rounds of 74 and 71 on Monday followed by a 73 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Zach Koerner also shot a 73 in the final round, concluding the tournament in a share of 32nd place with a 220 score. He had shot a 73 in the first round and a 74 in the second round during day one play.

The Bulldogs' Kole Putnam competed as an individual and placed tied for 50th overall at 224 for the event, notching a 77 in both the first and third rounds with a two-under 70 during the middle round.

Ferris State will be back in action on Oct. 9-10 at the Fall Midwest Regional in St. Albans, Mo.
