Big Rapids, Mich. – The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team earned a 2-1 win in overtime against St. Lawrence in non-conference action Saturday (Nov. 4) at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.

After falling 5-2 on Friday night, the Bulldogs (3-3-1) responded in a big way with a thrilling victory Saturday. With the overtime win, the Bulldogs now have three wins on the year, all coming in the overtime period.

Logan Stein started between the pipes for FSU and earned his first win of the season, recording 22 saves on 23 shots faced.

St. Lawrence scored its lone goal of the evening early in the first period. Philippe Chapleau tallied a goal at the 3:28 mark, with Justin Paul and Cameron Buhl assisting.

The Bulldogs answered at 11:02 in the first period, thanks to the first career goal from Trevor Taulien. The freshman crashed on the backside while Stepan Pokorny brought the puck into the offensive zone, and Pokorny found him for the goal. Pokorny's fifth assist of the campaign extended his point streak to four games. Antonio Venuto also assisted.

FSU relentlessly pressured Saints' goaltender Ben Kraws and the St. Lawrence defense throughout regulation, registering 34 shots on target. St. Lawrence had 21 shots but the score remained tied 1-1 and went to overtime, the fourth time this season the Bulldogs have skated in overtime.

Stein made two big saves in the overtime period to keep his team in it, and Venuto tallied the game-winning goal at 3:45. He and Pokorny led a break, played a perfect two-man game in the offensive zone and Venuto buried a shot in the back of the net to give the Bulldogs their third overtime win of the season. Pokorny recorded his sixth assist of the year, and Venuto tallied his team-leading sixth goal.

Venuto and Pokorny both had multi-point nights for FSU, while Taulien's first career goal was the only other point for the Dawgs. Stein was 22-of-23 on saves, while Kraws stopped 33 of 35 shots faced for the Saints.

Each team committed just one penalty, and neither team scored on the power play. The Bulldogs outshot the Saints 35-23 and won 37 faceoffs while the Saints won 29.

The Bulldogs will be back at the Ewigleben Ice Arena next weekend for a home series in CCHA play against Minnesota State. Puck drop is set for 7:07 p.m. (ET) for both Friday (Nov. 10) and Saturday's (Nov. 11) games.
