Bulldog Hockey Shutout by Bowling Green on the Road

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team traveled to the Slater Family Ice Arena to face Bowling Green State University in Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) play Friday (Dec. 8) and fell 1-0.

Freshman goaltender Cole Moore earned his first career shutout with a perfect 39-39 save performance against the Bulldogs. It was the second shutout this season for Bowling Green, with the other coming from Christian Stoever.

Logan Stein was terrific for Ferris State, stopping 36-37 (.973) of the shots he faced. He took the loss for the game and is now 3-4-1 on the season.

The lone goal in the contest came at 10:22 in the first period from Ethan Scardina, his first of the year. Ben Wozney and Gustav Stjernberg assisted.

Ferris State had a great opportunity midway through the third period when two Falcons skaters were sent to the box. The ensuing 5-on-3 for FSU resulted in multiple good scoring chances, but Moore slammed the door and the Bulldogs failed to tie the game.

Stein was pulled with under 60 seconds remaining in the third period for the extra attacker. The Bulldog offense generated some pressure, but Moore and the Falcons' defense ultimately were up to the challenge and turned FSU away.

The Bulldogs had 39 shots on goal and the Falcons took 37. FSU won the faceoff battle 31-30 against the best faceoff winning team in the CCHA. BGSU blocked 12 shots, while the Bulldogs blocked eight and each team was 0-3 on power play chances.
