Big Rapids, Mich. – The Ferris State University men's ice hockey had a four-game win streak snapped Friday (Feb. 2) by the Bowling Green State University Falcons in a 4-3 defeat in the Ewigleben Ice Arena.

The Bulldogs (10-17-1) suffered their first defeat in nearly a month, as their last loss came Jan. 13. Against the Falcons, Ferris State had multi-point performances from Luigi Benincasa and Zach Faremouth but were unable to secure a victory.

Benincasa started the scoring early in the first period, putting the Bulldogs up 1-0 at the 1:46 mark. His fifth goal of the year came from Jason Brancheau and Nick Hale, who each recorded their fifth helpers this year. Hale also extended his point streak to three games. He banked a pass of the wall that Brancheau collected, skated through the Falcon defense, and fired a pass to the back side where Benincasa took and buried the shot.

Faremouth gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead at 3:27 in the first period. He raced down the left-wing side and beat BGSU's defense net front, where he dragged through the crease and scored his third of the year. Drew Cooper and Andy Noel each collected their third assists of the season with Noel also extending his point streak to three games.

Bowling Green got on the board at 7:25 in the second period with Ryan O'Hara's team-leading 10th goal of the year. Michael Bevilacqua assisted.

Faremouth put the Bulldogs back up two goals at 15:43, finishing off a rebound chance and beating Christian Stoever. Jack Mesic and Benincasa had the helpers on Faremouth's goal that gave the Bulldogs a 3-1 leading going into the third period.

It was all Falcons the rest of the way. They scored three unanswered in the final period, starting with Adam Schankula's first career goal at 8:04. Jaden Grant and Dalton Norris assisted. Quinn Emerson then tied the game at 10:56 with assists from Seth Fyten and Ben Doran.

Bevilacqua had the game-winning goal at 13:40 from Doran and Emerson, giving the Falcons a 4-3 victory and their third win this year against Ferris State. Their victory also snapped Ferris State's four-game win streak.

Stoever earned his second win of the year with a 22-25 save performance. Logan Stein took the loss for FSU, turning away 25-29 shots faced.

Faremouth finished the evening with two goals, his second career two-goal game. Benincasa had a goal and an assist, the sixth time this year he has had multiple points in a game.

The Falcons outshot the Bulldogs 29-25 and won the faceoff battle 39-26. The Bulldogs were 0-2 on power play chances and killed their lone penalty.
