Big Rapids, Mich. – The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team suffered a 3-1 setback against the Bowling Green State University Falcons Saturday (Feb. 3) inside the Ewigleben Ice Arena.

The Bulldogs (10-18-1) played their final game before having a week off and were unable to top the Falcons, who swept the season series with their win Saturday. Noah Giesbrecht made 18-20 saves for Ferris State in the loss, and his .900 save percentage marked his fourth consecutive start turning away at least 90% of shots faced.

Bowling Green had just 21 shots on goal for the game, the lowest single-game mark of any opponent the Bulldogs have faced this season. Ferris State had 27 and also won the faceoff battle 26-25, while Zach Faremouth scored his third goal of the weekend.

Bowling Green started the scoring at 4:19 in the first with Michael Bevilacqua's second goal of the weekend. Ethan Scardina and Brandon Santa Juana assisted. The Falcons took a 2-0 lead at 13:01 when Ben Doran lit the lamp for the first time this year. Quinn Emerson and Seth Fyten had the helpers.

Faremouth put the Bulldogs on the board at 12:26 in the second period. He crashed to the backside of the net, got a rebound chance and placed a perfect shot past Cole Moore to cut the Bulldogs deficit in half. Emerson Goode and Kaleb Ergang earned their third and seventh assists of the season, respectively.

Spencer Kersten won the game for BGSU at 19:45 in the third period. The Bulldogs had the extra attacker on, and Kersten hit the empty net to send the Falcons out of Big Rapids with a 3-1 victory. Emerson tallied his second assist of the night.

For the game, Moore turned away 26-27 shots faced. The Bulldogs were 0-2 on power play tries and were a perfect 3-3 on penalty kill chances.
