Ferris State Tennis Squads Earn Decisive Dual Victories Over Lawrence Tech

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads played their first dual action of the year on Saturday (Oct. 8) with both teams earning decisive wins over Lawrence Tech in non-league action. The two matches took place at the Universtiy of Detroit Mercy tennis courts.

The Bulldog men claimed a 7-0 triumph with the women garnering a 6-1 victory.

"It was a great day on the courts for Bulldog Tennis," said FSU head coach Mark Doren. "The men were pushed by a very talented Lawrence Tech squad, but came out victorious in every spot. I was very happy with the fight the team showed on a very cold and windy day.

"On the women's side, we came away with a solid 6-1 win despite missing quite a few players in our lineup," he added. "It gave others the opportunity to step up and play very good tennis. We came out strong in doubles and that continued into some dominant performances in singles."

The Bulldog men's squad wrapped up their fall season of action with Saturday's win. Meanwhile, the women's team next square off against NCAA Division I Bucknell on Saturday, Oct. 15, with match time set for 4 p.m. (ET). The contest will take place at the Grand Valley State Tennis Courts in Allendale.
