Ferris State Track Starts Outdoor Season Strong At Hilltopper Relays

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field squads officially opened the outdoor campaign by taking part in the Hilltopper Relays hosted by Western Kentucky University on Friday and Saturday (March 31-April 1) in Bowling Green, Ohio.

The Bulldogs had a strong start to the outdoor campaign in the event.

FSU's Danae Feldpausch took first place in the 800 meters (2:18.91) with Daisy Englund second (2:21.24) overall.

Meanwhile, Whitney Farrell won the 5,000 meters (18:35.79) with Sydney Kubiak second (18:45.99), Melanea Strauss fourth (19:14.05), Jessica Durkee seventh (19:38.81) and Claudia Baryo 10th (19:49.30).

The Bulldogs' Nyah Tyron placed second in the 400 hurdles (1:06.79). Becci Castillo was sixth in the 1,500 meters (5:23.04).

Ferris State's Brianna Copley placed third in the discus (130-3) with Emma Stephayn fifth (122-4). Rebecca Marvin was seventh in the shot put (36-2.25). FSU's Isabel Dziadzio finished fifth in the javelin (92-10) and Stephayn also finished eighth in the hammer throw (149-3).

On the men's side, Donis Harris won the 1,500 meters (3:58.29) and Andrew Shafley came in second (4:09.99) with Casey Bouman seventh (4:20.35).

Noah Griffith finished third in the 5,000 meters (15:42.94), Brendan Cairney was fourth (15:44.79), Dan Hardesty fifth (15:59.19) and Brandon Wirth eighth (16:27.26). Josiah Flora placed 11th in the 400 meters (52.94) and Lucas Vandam was 12th (54.31) while Ethan Hamilton took 12th place in the 800 meters (2:04.81).

FSU's Kyle Drouillard placed sixth in the hammer throw (169-11) while Aaron Pierce was 11th in the long jump (19-8.25).

The Bulldogs will next compete at the Golden Grizzy Invite on Saturday, April 8, in Rochester, Mich.
