Dawgs Dash Past Davenport To Victory Thursday

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball team lent helping hands all night with 22 assists en route to a 72-55 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory over the Davenport Panthers on Thursday (Feb. 3) inside Jim Wink Arena.

Four Bulldog starters finished in double-figures, led by senior guard Adrienne Anderson's 18 points on the night. Anderson doled out six assists, notched six steals and pulled down five boards in the win overall.

The Bulldogs got off to a solid defensive start and led Davenport 36-25 into the break. Ferris State scored an identical 36 second-half points to cruise to victory to move to 15-6 on the year and 9-4 in GLIAC play. 

Ferris State junior guard Mallory McCartney was strong on the glass with a game-best nine rebounds and eight assists for Ferris State. Sophomore Kadyn Blanchard added 13 points and six boards while senior Zoe Anderson and junior Chloe Idoni each picked up 10 points.

The Bulldogs flexed their depth as all 10 Bulldogs who attempted a shot scored on the night. On the glass, the Bulldogs pulled down 46 rebounds and held Davenport to 36 overall.

Davenport got double-figure scoring out of Toni Grace (16) and Emily Lange (10). Ferris State held eight of the other nine Panthers to five or less points on the contest.

The Bulldogs shot it 43.9 percent from the floor and held the Panthers to a 31.7 percent on the night. Ferris State also blocked five shots, led by senior Ellie Dykstra's two. FSU had 10 steals to Davenport's four.

For the game, the Bulldogs sank seven-of-22 (31.8%) three's and made 15-of-21 (71.4%) free throws. The Panthers made six-of-22 (27.3%) behind the arc, but were only 11-of-23 (47.8%) at the charity stripe.

Ferris State will face nationally-ranked archrival Grand Valley State on Saturday (Feb. 5) with tipoff set for 1 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena.
