Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad, which is ranked seventh nationally, used a huge second half push on Saturday (Feb. 10) evening to notch a 94-55 win over Lake Superior State University at Bud Cooper Gymnasium in Sault Ste. Marie.
In the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) encounter, FSU opened up a five-point lead after the opening period and held a 34-31 edge at halftime.
Ferris State then used a strong third quarter push to extend the margin to 66-43 after three periods of action. FSU outscored LSSU 31-12 in the third and 28-12 in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
The Bulldogs utilized all 13 players in uniform and all 13 scored in a balanced effort. Senior forward Chloe Idoni led FSU with a team-high 19 points while Mya Hiram added 17 points and Kadyn Blanchard chipped in 15 points.
FSU outscored the Lakers 50-12 inside the paint. The Bulldogs also held a 13-2 edge in scoring on the offensive glass, grabbing 12 offensive boards while out rebounding LSSU 44-26 for the night.
Overall, Ferris State shot 53% from the floor and 41% (9-22) from three-point range along with going 13-of-17 (76.5%) at the line.
The Bulldogs improved to 17-2 on the year and 11-1 in the GLIAC with the win.
The Bulldogs will return to Jim Wink Arena to host Saginaw Valley State in GLIAC play on Thursday (Feb. 15) starting at 5:30 p.m. (ET).
