Women's Golf Notches Strong Start Thru Two Rounds At Beall Fall Classic In Findlay

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team got off to a strong start in the opening two rounds of the William Beall Fall Classic on Monday (Oct. 4) as FSU sits seventh overall in a highly-competitive field in Findlay, Ohio.

The Bulldogs carded a first-round 308 team score followed by a 312 in Monday's second round and is currently +44 overall in the event being held at the Findlay Country Club. A total of 18 schools are taking part in the 54-hole tournament with the final 18 holes slated for Tuesday.

A pair of Bulldogs are currently tied for 21st overall individually with Alayna Eldred and Hope Thebo both sitting at +9 thru two rounds. 

FSU's Dani Staskowski is tied for 31st in the field with a +11 score while Abby Grevel is tied for 64th (+19) and Lauren Kempf owns a share of 70th place (+23).

In the first round, Thebo carded a two-over par 74 with Eldred earning a 75 score. Staskowski shot a 78, Kempf posted an 81 and Grevel notched an 85.

Staskowski led the Bulldogs in round two with a 77 followed closely by Eldred and Grevel as each shot a 78. Thebo recorded a 79 in the second round and Kempf shot an 86.

Overall, Barry University sits in first place in the team race after two rounds with a +11 total. Host Findlay is second (+18) going into the final round on the course measuring 6,043 yards.

The final round of action starts for the Bulldogs on Tuesday at 9 a.m. (ET).
