Women's Golf Improves Score By Nine Strokes In Final Round Of Tiffin Fall Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team lowered its score by nine strokes over the final 18 holes and concluded play at the Tiffin Fall Invitational with a share of fifth place on Tuesday (Oct. 12) in Tiffin, Ohio.

The Bulldogs, who had shot a 339 team total in Monday's opening round, came back with a 330 figure in the final round of the 36-hole event to finish at 669 overall.

The two-day tournament was held at the Mohawk Golf and Country Club, which is a par 72 course and measured at 6,037 yards for the event.

FSU was led by Alayna Eldred, who earned runner-up honors with a 158 total. She fired an impressive round of 77 on Tuesday after beginning action with an 81 in the first round.

Eldred was followed by Hope Thebo in the Bulldog lineup. Thebo carded a 169 figure on rounds of 87 Monday and 82 Tuesday for a share of 18th place overall.

The Bulldogs' Lauren Kempf posted back-to-back 85's and took a share of 21st place at 170 for the event while Dani Staskowski shot a 174 for a tie of 26th place. Staskowski posted an 86 on Tuesday after a first-round 88 total.

Finally, Abby Grevel placed tied for 34th overall at 181 following a 95 in the final round. Her opening round was an 86 in Monday's action.

The Bulldogs will next take part in the Davenport Panther Invitational set for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 16-17.
