FSU Women's Golf Opens Lady Bulldog Fall Invite In Second Place After Day One

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team had another strong day on Sunday (Sept. 24) and currently sits second overall in the Lady Bulldog Fall Invitational heading into the final round at FSU's Katke Golf Course.

The Bulldogs, who earned runner-up honors at the Gilda's Club Laker Invite on Saturday in Allendale, came back on Sunday and shot a 303 team score in the first 18 holes of action in their own home event at Katke Golf Course.

Ferris State, which is +15 overall, trails leader Wayne State by only three shots heading into Monday's final round of action. The Warriors carded a +12 total of 300 in round one. Grand Valley State sits third (+22) and Tiffin fourth (+24) in the 11-team field.

FSU was led on Sunday by Kamryn Shannon, who carded a one-under 71 figure. She trails individual leader Inja Fric of Wayne State by a single stroke going into round two. Shannon was the runner-up on Saturday at the Gilda's Club Laker Invite and sits in the same spot on the leaderboard going into the final round.

Ferris State's Abby Grevel carded a 75 at three-over par in round one and is tied for fifth in the field on the par 72 course measuring 5,987 yards on day one.

FSU's Dani Staskowski shot a 78 and is tied for 13th (78) followed by Lizzie Anderson in a share of 18th place with a 79 (+7). The Bulldogs' Hallie Crozier notched an 81 (+9) and is tied for 23rd following first round action.

FSU also had a select group of student-athletes compete as individuals with Taylor Musselman presently tied for 13th with a 78 (+6). Aspen Sugars shot an 83 (+11) and is tied for 34th with Hope Thebo tied for 46th with a first-round 86 (+14) score.|

Final round action gets underway on Monday at 9:30 a.m. (ET) at Katke Golf Course.
