Bulldog Women's Golf Sixth After Day One In NCAA D1 Field At Chippewa Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad opened play in the CMU Chippewa Invitational on Monday (Oct. 16) in Birmingham, Mich., shooting a 332 figure for sixth place overall in the first round.

FSU is one of seven competing teams in the tournament and the only non-NCAA Division I school in the field. Youngstown State (Ohio) posted the best score in round one with a 296 followed by Oakland with a 307 and Illinois-Chicago at 312 in the top three overall. Other competing teams include CMU, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Detroit Mercy along with FSU.

Ferris State was led by Hallie Crozier, who shot a 78 and is tied for 12th overall.

FSU's Aspen Sugars fired an 82 and is tied for 33rd on the leaderboard with Kamryn Shannon tied for 41st overall after notching an 84 on the day.

The Bulldogs' Dani Staskowski also shot an 84 and is also tied for 41st with Abby Grevel carding an 86 for a share of 46th in the field along with FSU's Taylor Musselman, who shot the same score. Hope Thebo rounded out the Bulldog competitors in the event with an 87 in the opening round for a share of 50th individually.

The event wraps up at the Birmingham Country Club with final-round play on Tuesday starting at 10 a.m. (ET).
