#4 Ferris State Soccer Drops Regional Road Tilt At #16 Ashland

Ashland, Ohio – The Nationally fourth-ranked Ferris State University women's soccer team suffered its first setback of the season on Sunday (Sept. 10), falling on the road 3-0 at 16th-ranked Ashland.

Darya Mosallaei earned the start at goalkeeper for FSU (2-1-1) and faced four shots with one save in the contest.

Ashland scored first at 28:08 of the first half, taking a 1-0 edge into halftime. In the second half, Hope Evans beat Mosallaei to the lower left part of the goal to extend AU's lead to 2-0.

Seven minutes later (70-minute mark), the Eagles scored their third and final goal of the game, this time on a penalty kick. McKinley Mendenhall got Mosallaei to jump to the left side of the goal and fired the shot right side to the net.

Ferris State fired seven shots, but none were able to find the frame. Ashland attempted nine, with four being on target.

The Bulldogs committed eight fouls and had three corner kicks. The Eagles had 10 fouls and eight corner kicks.

FSU will head to Allendale and face rival Grand Valley State in the first GLIAC contest of the season on Friday (Sept. 15) starting at 7 p.m. (ET). FSU then visits Davenport on Sunday (Sept. 17) for a 12 p.m. (ET) match with the Panthers.
