Bulldogs Finish With 1-1 Deadlock In Sunday League Tilt At Davenport

Caledonia, Mich. – The Ferris State University women's soccer team traveled to Davenport for its second Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest of the season and tied the Panthers 1-1 on Sunday (Sept. 17).

The Bulldogs (2-2-2) scored first and controlled the pace of play offensively for a majority of the game. At the 41-minute mark, FSU had a corner kick from junior Lindsay Cole and sophomore Haley Buckman headed it into the net. Buckman's second goal of the season gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Through the first half, FSU attempted eight shots, of which six were on target. Junior goalkeeper Darya Mosallaei faced two shots from the Panthers and saved them both.

In the second half, both teams had three shots on goal. However, it was the Panthers who found the back of the net with just over three minutes remaining in the game. The goal from Arianna Diemer tied the game at 1-1.

Neither team scored in the final minutes of play. The Bulldogs outshot the Panthers 12-10 for the game and had more shots on goal. They had 10 compared to six for Davenport. FSU took six corner kicks while Davenport took three, and the Bulldogs committed 11 fouls, two fewer than the 13 Davenport had.

The Bulldogs will return home to face the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Friday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m. (ET). FSU then takes on the Michigan Tech Huskies on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. (ET) in GLIAC play.
