Bulldog Soccer Gets Back in the Win Column with 2-0 Victory Over Purdue-Northwest

Hammond, Ind. – The Ferris State University women's soccer squad earned its first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory on Friday with a 2-0 win over Purdue Northwest on the road.

FSU (3-4-2) had one of its most complete games in the win over the Pride. Darya Mosallaei started in goal for Ferris State and recorded her third shutout of the year, making five saves along the way. The Bulldogs had 10 shots on goal compared to five for PNW, and they had six corner kicks while the Pride had four. FSU also committed just seven fouls, their fewest in a game this season.

After a scoreless first half, at 52:59, senior Payton Price recorded her third goal of the season to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Brinley Bell took a pass from Jessie Bandyk and worked around the Pride defense to the outside of the box. She beat the defense and centered a pass into the box that drew Purdue-Northwest's goalkeeper Meta Fischer out of the goal. Bell's pass got to Price on the backside, where she kicked it in.

FSU tacked on another goal to make the game 2-0 at 70:53. Bell again beat the defense to the outside and ripped a shot that Fischer saved, but a big rebound went right to Isabella Baron and the freshman fired in her second goal of the season.

Bell collected her first two assists and points of the season during the victory over the Pride. Price increased her team-leading goals scored tally to three. She fired three shots on goal and freshman Maryn Rettenmund sent two towards the net. FSU attempted 14 total shots in the contest, compared to just six for Purdue-Northwest.

Fischer made eight saves in the loss for the Pride. Emma Carter had two shots on goal.

The Bulldogs will travel to Wisconsin-Parkside for another GLIAC matchup with the Rangers on Sunday, Oct. 1, starting at 1 p.m. (ET).
