Big Rapids, Mich. – The Ferris State University women's soccer team recorded its third Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory on Sunday (Oct. 15) with a 2-1 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside.

The Bulldogs (5-5-3) won their second game of the weekend with Sunday's win over the Rangers following a victory Friday over Purdue-Northwest. Freshman Katherine Welch scored again Sunday to give her five goals on the weekend.

Welch started the scoring at 38:52 in the first half. Her team-leading sixth goal of the year came from fellow freshman Maryn Rettenmund and gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

FSU held that lead into the second half and extended it at 61:32 thanks to Brinley Bell's first goal of the season. Lindsay Cole took a corner kick for the Bulldogs, and Bell put the pass into the back of the net to give Ferris State a 2-0 lead.

Parkside answered with their first and only goal of the afternoon two minutes later. Emily Mikkelson tallied her third goal of the year and brought the Rangers within a goal. However, the Bulldogs held the lead and emerged with a win.

FSU goalkeeper Darya Mosallaei made four saves in the win. The Bulldogs had nine shots on target, while the Rangers had five. Both teams took five corner kicks. Welch and Payton Price each had three shots on goal.

The Bulldogs will play two more GLIAC games at home next weekend. Davenport comes to town on Friday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m. (ET) and Grand Valley State will visit Big Rapids on Sunday, Oct. 22, for another 1 p.m. (ET) tilt.
