Ferris State Track Teams Finish Seventh Overall At 2021 GLIAC Indoor Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field squads both finished action seventh overall in the final team standings at the 2021 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Championships.

The annual league championships were hosted by Saginaw Valley State University and took place on Saturday (Feb. 27) and Sunday (Feb. 28) in University Center.

The Bulldog women's team totaled 18.83 points overall with the men's team compiling 13 points in the event. The top eight places in each event earned points counting toward the final team scores.

FSU's Claudia Wilkinson led the way as she tied for second place overall in the high jump with a performance of 1.59 meters (5-2.50). Teammate Amanda Eslinger also had a strong performance in the event, finishing tied for seventh at 1.59 meters (5-2.50) as well.

In Sunday's other field event action, the Bulldogs' Trevor Roznowski placed 13th in the men's shot put (13.63m) and Forrest Akers was 14th (13.34m). FSU's Kennedy Riebschlager came in 14th in the shot put on the women's side (11.57m).

The Bulldogs' Carissa Schurr clocked 2:20.53 in earning seventh place in the women's 800 meters while Hannah Loucks finished seventh in the 3,000 meters (10:42.32). FSU's Callie Delaney placed 10th in the 3K (10:52.04) with Katelyn Hutchinson coming in 11th (10:57.59). Kylie Hutchinson took 10th place in the women's mile (5:23.89).

Ferris State's Brett Robertson placed eighth overall in the 60-meter hurdles (8.89) after advancing to the finals following a strong performance on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Donis Harris finished ninth in the men's 3,000 meters (8:29.53) and Aaron Jarema placed 14th (8:49.46) in the event.

The Bulldog women's team also placed seventh in the 4x400-meter relay (4:12.13) with a quartet of Schurr, Allyson Faulkner along with Katelyn and Kylie Hutchinson.

The FSU men's 4x400-meter relay squad of Ben Menapace, Brendan Deneen, Logan Reimink and Robertson captured fifth place (3:29.07).

Ferris State will now turn its attention to the 2021 outdoor season which begins next month.
