Bulldogs Drop Finale At Midwest Region Crossover To Lewis

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad had its winning streak snapped on Saturday (Oct. 15) as the Bulldogs fell 3-0 to Lewis in the finale at the Midwest Region Crossover held at the Hammond Sportsplex in Hammond, Ind.

The Flyers won a tightly-contested opening set that went to extra points, pulling out a 31-29 win, and followed it up with victories of 25-23 and 26-24 over the next two frames to garner the triumph.

The Bulldogs hit .256 overall and came up with 47 kills along with 13 attack errors on 133 attempts. Overall, FSU finished with 59 digs and posted two blocks with four service aces, but also had 11 service errors.

Sophomore Claire Nowicki and middle hitter Olivia Henneman-Dallape paced FSU with 12 kills each while Chelsie Freeman totaled nine kills. Sophomore Kaylee Maat netted 33 assists for FSU to go with nine digs.

FSU libero Leah Bylut led the Bulldogs with 15 digs and Nowicki added 14 digs in the setback.

Lewis, which finished with 50 kills on 131 attempts while compiling a .260 attack figure, was led by Bella Ray with 15 kills. Natalie Stefanski added 15 digs and Lauren Stenman paced the Flyers with 34 assists.

The Bulldogs dropped to 15-8 overall with the setback. FSU had won its last eight matches in a row entering the contest.

FSU returns home and will host Wayne State on Thursday (Oct. 20) in GLIAC play starting at 7 p.m. (ET).
