Bulldog Volleyball Beats Rival GVSU To Cap Season Sweep Over Lakers

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad recorded an exciting 3-1 win against West Michigan rival Grand Valley State on Friday (Oct. 28) night inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs and the Lakers met for the second time this season with FSU earning the season sweep over Grand Valley State.

FSU took the opening set 25-20 before the Lakers answered with a 25-18 win in the second. However, FSU pulled out a 25-23 triumph in set three and then sealed the victory in extra points in the fourth set, winning by a 30-28 count.

Ferris State was led by the quartet of Claire Nowicki, Olivia Henneman-Dallape, Emma Bleecher and Syann Fairfield, who each had 12 total kills in the contest. Sophomore setter Kaylee Maat tallied 44 assists for FSU with a team-high 18 digs.

The Lakers were paced by Kendall Stover with 16 kills and Jordyn Gates with 30 total assists.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 18-9 overall and 13-2 in the GLIAC while GVSU fell to 15-11 overall and 8-7 in conference play.

Ferris State will host Purdue Northwest on Saturday (Oct. 29) with match time set for 3 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena.
