Ferris State Closes Regular-Season With Home Victory Over Davenport

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University volleyball squad capped off an impressive regular-season of conference action by beating Davenport 3-1 on Saturday (Nov. 5) in the regular-season finale at FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs dropped the opening set 25-20, but came back to win the next three frames by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-21 to avenge an earlier setback on the road against the Panthers in the first meeting between the two West Michigan schools.

With the win, FSU finished the regular-season with a 21-9 overall record and compiled a 16-2 league slate. DU fell to 22-8 overall and 13-4 in league play.

Ferris State received a team-high 15 kills from Chelsie Freeman to go with 14 kills by Olivia Henneman-Dallape. FSU's Syann Fairfield added 10 kills while Claire Nowicki notched nine kills and Emma Bleecher finished with eight on the night.

Overall, the Bulldogs hit .232 for the contest and finished with 59 kills and 18 attack errors on 177 attempts. FSU also notched 92 digs while posting five aces, four solo blocks and eight block assists.

Sophomore setter Kaylee Maat totaled 48 assists for FSU and added 23 digs with Leah Bylut posting 17 digs in the outing. Freshman Alina Anderson produced 16 digs with both Nowicki and Bleecher recording 14 digs each.

Nowicki also had four service aces in the win while Freeman posted four block assists. Henneman-Dallape tallied two solo blocks and three assisted efforts at the net.

Davenport was led by Hayley Kreiger with a match-high 26 kills. Linday Taylor totaled 10 kills.

FSU held DU to a .110 attack figure on the night.

Ferris State will host Lake Superior State in the opening round of the GLIAC Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 9, inside Jim Wink Arena. Match time is to be announced.
