Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University senior runner Anna Rudd (Leslie) was officially recognized as an All-American for the 2014 outdoor campaign by being named today to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-America squad.

Student-athletes were honored for their performances at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Allendale, Mich. Those who earned any portion of a team point at the championships earned the distinction, so long as their teams are a member of the USTFCCCA.

Rudd placed fifth overall in the 10,000 meters to close the opening-day events on Thursday (May 22) as she clocked 35:31.33 in the event held at the Grand Valley State Track & Field Stadium. The race was her first of two events in the national championships as she also placed 10th overall in the 5,000 meters on Saturday (May 24) on the final day.

The national meet was hosted by GVSU along with the West Michigan Sports Commission. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event with the final selected participants chosen based on their performance marks. A total of 754 participants, 377 men and 377 women, competed in this year's championships.

Previously, Rudd was a national champion for the Bulldogs during the 2013 indoor season in the 5,000 meters. She placed seventh overall earlier this year in the 5K at the Division II National Indoor Championships held in March (14-15) in Winston-Salem, N.C. Rudd clocked 17:14.19 in the 5K at the indoor nationals to earn All-America honors for the second-straight year in the event.

Earlier this year, Rudd earned USTFCCCA All-Region accolades for the outdoor campaign. She placed third overall in the 5,000 meters (17:08.22) at the 2014 GLIAC Outdoor Championships.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is a non-profit professional organization representing cross country and track & field coaches of all levels. The organization represents over 8,000 coaching members encompassing 94% of all NCAA track & field programs (DI, DII, and DIII) and includes members representing the NAIA as well as a number of state high school coaches associations.

The USTFCCCA serves as an advocate for cross country and track & field coaches, providing a leadership structure to assist the needs of a diverse membership, serving as a lobbyist for coaches' interests, and working as a liaison between the various stakeholders in the sports of cross country and track & field.
