Selected Bulldog Indoor Track Competitors Open Competition At GVSU Holiday Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field squads sent a handful of competitors to the season-opening Grand Valley State Holiday Open this weekend inside the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale.

Bulldog senior Katie Etelamaki took 16th place in the 5,000 meters (17:14.19) while reaching the NCAA Division II National Provisional Qualification mark in her first time on the track this year.

FSU junior Amanda Eslinger placed tied for 13th in the high jump (1.49m) while freshman Steffanie Sestak came in 25th place in the long jump (4.36m).

Ferris State sophomore Brianna Copley finished ninth in the shot put (13.41m) with freshman Emma Stephayn 23rd (10.33m) in the same event. She was also 28th in the weight throw (12.33m).

On the men's side, FSU's Brett Robertson claimed ninth place in the 400 meters (50.71) while sophomore Ben Meapace placed 16th (51.43). Both also ran in the 200 meters where Menapace finished 17th (23.03) with Robertson 22nd (23.34).

FSU's Forrest Akers came in eighth overall in the shot put (13.09m) with Trevor Roznowski 13th in the weight throw (12.57m). Jason Keena was 15th in the long jump (5.60m).

The Bulldogs return to action as they start the 2020 portion of the season at the Saginaw Valley State Classic on Jan. 10 in University Center, Mich.
