Ferris State Track and Field Teams Take Part In Final Tune-Up For GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field squads had their final competitions prior to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Championships on Friday (Feb. 19) as FSU took part in the Grand Valley State Tune-Up Meet in Allendale.

FSU's Allyson Faulkner placed fourth overall in the 400 meters (1:04.31) and Claudia Wilkinson had the eighth-fastest time in the 200 meters (28.46). Wilkinson was also fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (10.03).

Meanwhile, Kylie Hutchinson took third place in the mile run (5:13.38) with Carissa Schurr fifth (5:19.99), Katelyn Hutchinson sixth (5:20.20) and Hannah Loucks seventh (5:22.24).

Loucks also placed ninth in the 3,000 meters (11:09.02) with Abigail Johnson 10th (11:22.52).

The Bulldogs' took second in the women's 4x400-meter relay (4:17.68) with a quartet consisting of Schurr, Katelyn Hutchinson, Faulkner and Kylie Hutchinson.

In the field events, Amanda Eslinger finished tied for fifth in the high jump (5-3) with Wilkinson (5-3). Faulkner was also ninth in the long jump (14-10).

FSU's Kennedy Riebschleger placed fifth in the shot put (37-3.25) and Emma Stephayn was fifth in the weight throw (47-1.75) with Riebschleger eight (40-5.50) and Morgan Beckman ninth (40-0.50).

On the men's side, Ben Menapace came in third in the 400 meters (51.34) and Travis Feldpausch was fifth (56.86). Brett Robertson took seventh place in the 200 meters (22.99).

The Bulldogs' Brendan Deneen finished seventh in the 800 meters (2:00.85).

In the men's mile run, Aaron Jarema came in fourth (4:31.99) with Dan Hardesty fifth (4:38.77) and Weston Rackley sixth (4:42.18). Jayden Gertsen was 10th (4:55.90).

FSU's Donis Harris placed third in the 3,000 meters (8:28.45) and Brett Robertson was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.75).

Ferris State also came in second in the men's 4x400-meter relay with the tandem of Menapace, Deneen, Robertson and Andrew Yaworski clocking 3:31.57 overall.

The Bulldogs' Forrest Akers was eighth in the shot put (44-4.25) with Trevor Roznowksi 10th (41-1.50). Roznowski also came in 10th in the weight throw (44-11.50).

Ferris State will take part in the GLIAC Indoor Championships set for Feb. 27-28 in University Center, Mich.
