Strong Performances Highlight Day One Action For Ferris State Track Teams At GLIAC Indoor Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field teams had several strong performances in day one action at the 2021 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Championships, which began on Saturday (Feb. 27) in University Center, Mich.

The annual league meet wraps up with the finals in a majority of the track events and the remaining field events taking place on Sunday.

In Saturday's action on the women's side, FSU's Hannah Loucks came in eighth in the 5,000 meters (18:46.78).

Ferris State's women's distance medley relay team also came in fourth overall with a time of 12:33.60.

Meanwhile, on the men's side, the Bulldogs' Donis Harris placed sixth in the 5,000 meters (14:43.72) with Aaron Jarema seventh (14:58.79). FSU's Weston Rackley placed 12th overall (15:33.89).

Harris' time in the 5,000 meters was a personal record and the number three all-time best indoor mark in the event in Bulldog history. Jarema also set a personal-best while Rackley notched his fastest performance of the season for FSU.

Ferris State's Brett Robertson advanced into the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.63. he also had the 11th-best effort in the 200 meters, clocking 22.72 in the race.

Meanwhile, Ben Menapace clocked 50.67 in posting the ninth-best time in the men's 400 meters. It marked a season-best performance.

The men's distance medley relay placed seventh overall (10:54.97).
