Ferris State Well-Represented On GLIAC Spring All-Academic Teams
Big Rapids, Mich. - A total of 47 Ferris State University student-athletes have achieved Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic & All-Academic Excellence Team honors for the recently-completed 2018-19 spring athletics campaign as announced by the league office. The teams are sponsored by Meijer, Inc.
The 47 Bulldog student-athletes represent six varsity programs, including men's and women's golf, men's tennis, softball along with men's and women's outdoor track and field.
Overall, a total of 814 student-athletes achieved all-academic recognition from across the conference member institutions this past spring season.
Ferris State had 18 student-athletes tabbed to the GLIAC All-Academic Team and another 29 who received GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team recognition.
This past academic year, the Bulldogs' nearly 400 student-athletes combined for a cumulative 3.13 overall grade point average. A total of 12 squads posted over a 3.00 team GPA and more than 200 student-athletes garnered recognition as all-academic honorees.
Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, not a freshman or a first year transfer student. All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0-3.49. Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student athletes that have a cumulative GPA of 3.50-4.0. Grades are based on marks from the fall semester of 2017.
