Ferris State vaulted to #2 in the nation this week following an impressive 34-7 win over rival Grand Valley State in the Anchor-Bone Classic before a sellout crowd at Lubbers Stadium last Saturday. The Bulldogs are now 7-1 overall and in sole possession of first place in the GLIAC standings with a 4-0 league mark. FSU heads to Marquette this week to face the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Saturday at 1 pm inside the Superior Dome. The Bulldogs' Trinidad Chambliss was chosen as the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth week in a row and fifth time this season while junior Jalen Jones was tabbed as the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

 

Ferris State remains #2 nationally this week after back-to-back league wins last week. FSU swept Davenport 3-0 on Thursday night at home before going on the road to beat Roosevelt 3-0 in Chicago on Friday night. Senior setter Kaylee Maat earned the GLIAC Setter of the Week honor and also became the school's all-time career assists leader last week. The Bulldogs host Wayne State on Friday evening in Big Rapids at 6 pm before a national showdown against rival Grand Valley State on Saturday afternoon starting at 3 pm at Bulldog Arena. Fans are encouraged to wear red for Saturday's showdown.

 

Ferris State split a pair of games against Bemidji State in its first CCHA play of the year this past week at the Ewigleben Ice Arena. The Bulldogs won the weekend opener on Friday by a 4-2 score over the Beavers before BSU responded with a 3-0 triumph on Saturday evening in the finale. The Bulldogs' Nico DeVita earned CCHA Defenseman of the Week recognition. The Bulldogs head to Ohio this weekend to face longtime rival Bowling Green on both Friday and Saturday evenings.

 

Ferris State battled Davenport to a 0-0 deadlock last Friday in Caledonia and fell to rival Grand Valley State 2-0 on Sunday at the Bulldog Soccer Field. FSU visits Saginaw Valley State this Friday afternoon and then will return home to host Roosevelt on Sunday beginning at 1 pm in Big Rapids.

 

The FSU men's basketball squad battled Michigan State well on Tuesday evening at the Breslin Center before falling 85-67 in exhibition play. Ferris State is ranked #25 in the NABC D2 Preseason Coaches Poll and will open up regular-season play at the D2CCCA Tipoff Tournament this Friday and Saturday in Canyon, Texas. FSU faces host and third-ranked West Texas A&M in Friday's season opener before facing North Carolina Pembroke on Saturday evening ... The Bulldog women were picked #15 in the WBCA D2 Preseason National Rankings and head to St. Joseph, Mo., for the D2CCA Tipoff Classic this week. FSU takes on Pittsburg State on Saturday in the opener and will then take on Central Missouri on Sunday to close out the event.

 

The Bulldogs played host to the GLIAC Cross Country Championships this past weekend. The women took sixth place overall while the men came in seventh. FSU's Hanna Brock, Whitney Farrell and Cooper Sorsen all earned All-GLIAC accolades. The Bulldogs will take part in the NCAA D2 Midwest Regional on Nov. 9 in Romeoville, Ill .... The FSU men's golf team finished fifth this week as they closed out the fall season at the Bill Crabtree Invitational in Owensboro, Ky.
