Ferris State will begin its 41st all-time postseason playoff appearance this weekend on the road as the Bulldogs travel to St. Thomas (Minn.) for a best-of-three first-round series in the Mason Cup Playoffs. The two teams will hit the ice on Friday and Saturday nights with game three set for Sunday if necessary. The winner will advance to the CCHA Semifinals on March 15. The Bulldogs rolled to a 5-1 win over Northern Michigan this past weekend on Friday evening before tying the Wildcats 4-4 and dropping a eight-round shootout on Saturday evening in the regular-season home finale. FSU celebrated Coach Bob Daniels Weekend as the two games marked the final regular-season home matchups of his coaching career.
Men's Basketball
Ferris State is currently 24-7 overall this year and topped Saginaw Valley State 84-65 in the regular-season finale this past Saturday in University Center. The Bulldogs will host Wayne State on Wednesday (March 5) evening in the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena. The winner advances to the semifinals on Saturday (March 8) at a campus site to be announced with the title game on Sunday (March 9). FSU is the defending conference tournament champion and is also ranked fourth in the latest NCAA D2 Midwest Regional Rankings. The national tournament selections will be announced Sunday night at 11 p.m. (ET) at NCAA.com.
Women's Basketball
The Bulldog women's basketball squad will host the Roosevelt Lakers in the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Wednesday (March 5) evening with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena. The winner advances to the semifinals on Saturday (March 8) at a campus site to be announced with the title game on Sunday (March 9). The Bulldogs hold a 19-10 overall record to date this year and are coming off a close 70-67 road setback at Saginaw Valley State in the regular-season finale on Saturday in University Center. FSU is ranked fourth in this past week's NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings and the national tourney field will be unveiled Sunday night at 10:30 p.m. (ET) at NCAA.com.
Softball
Ferris State is coming off a regional road split against Ohio Dominican as the Bulldogs topped the Panthers by a 5-1 count on Friday (Feb. 27) in the opener before falling 8-7 in the nightcap. Saturday's scheduled twinbill at Findlay was cancelled due to weather. The Bulldogs will head to Florida for the USSSA Space Coast Spring Games starting on Tuesday (March 14). FSU will play six games over a three-day period in the Sunshine State.
Men's & Women's Tennis
The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads will also head to Florida next week with the men slated to play four matches and the women lined up for three contests during FSU's spring break period. Both teams are coming off close 4-3 road setbacks against Northwood in regional play. The women are 5-2 on the year and the men hold a 4-3 mark to date.
Track & Field
The Bulldogs took part in the GLIAC Indoor Championships this past weekend in University Center with strong results. Overall, the Bulldogs had eight student-athletes post school top 10 all-time marksin the first day of action at the event.
