Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball team came out on the short end of a 65-59 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road decision against the Walsh Cavaliers on Thursday (Dec. 8) night at Alumni Arena in Canton, Ohio.
The hosts Cavaliers took a 31-28 halftime lead and held off FSU by outscoring the Bulldogs 34-31 in the second half to improve to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the GLIAC this season.
FSU dropped to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play with the setback.
Standout forward Trey Fletcher led Walsh with a game-high 30 points while guard Zac Carter added 19 points for the hosts. Fletcher also pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds in the Walsh victory.
Meanwhile, sophomore center Zach Hankins recorded a team-best 19 points for the Bulldogs in the setback. He also pulled down 14 rebounds in the decision.
Ferris State went only six-of-10 (60%) at the free throw line in comparison to Walsh's 20-of-33 (60.6%) effort.
The Bulldogs will visit Hillsdale on Saturday, Dec. 10, for a 3 p.m. (ET) league tilt in Hillsdale, Mich.
