Bio

Redshirted during the 2016-17 campaign ... Member of FSU team that won a third consecutive GLIAC Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third year in a row while winning a school-record 28 games.

Prior To FSU: The 6-7 Staples tallied 19.3 points per game  as a senior en route to earning Indiana All-State accolades at Mishawaka High School under head coach Ryan Watson. He also tallied 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while claiming first-team all-conference laurels. The standout wing was ranked among the top 25 players overall in the state by Prep Hoops Indiana and was one of the top three power forwards in the Hoosier state. He once scored 29 points in a contest and also played high-level AAU basketball for the Indiana Elite guided by Rick Ellsworth. Staples also achieved in the classroom with an overall GPA of 3.4.
