#10 Ferris State Posts Nation-Leading 14th Victory With Road Triumph At Wisconsin-Parkside

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad returned from the holiday break in a big way as the Bulldogs ran past Wisconsin-Parkside 80-66 on Saturday (Dec. 30) afternoon in Somers, Wis.

The Bulldogs improved to 14-1 on the year with the triumph over the Rangers, who will join the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) next season. The 14 wins to date are the most in the nation.

The victory was FSU's fourth in five games over the past three seasons at DeSimone Gymnasium, including a run to the D2 Sweet Sixteen in the Midwest Regional hosted by UWP two years ago.

Ferris State opened up an early lead before the Rangers managed to cut the game back to a one-point difference, 33-32, at halftime. However, in the second half, FSU outscored Wisconsin-Parkside 47-34 to run away with the win.

The nationally 10th-ranked Bulldogs shot 57% from the floor in the victory and also outrebounded UWP 33-20 for the game.

Junior center Zach Hankins paced FSU with a team-high 15 points and added 13 rebounds in a double-double effort. The Bulldogs also got 13 points from senior forward Noah King along with 11 each from senior guard Drew Cushingberry and forward TyQuone Greer.

In addition to his 11 points, Cushingberry added eight assists in the win for Ferris State and posted three steals.

Wisconsin-Parkside had five players reach double-digits with Jameel Moore totaling a team-best 15 points in the setback as UWP fell to 2-10 on the year. Bret Barclay chipped in with 14 points.

Overall, Ferris State connected on five-of-14 three's (35.7%) and went nine-of-12 (75%) at the free throw line. UWP shot 53% from the floor and was six-of-11 (54.5%) beyond the arc in addition to 10-of-15 (66.7%) at the stripe.

The Bulldogs came away with 12 offensive boards and dished out 18 assists with 16 turnovers compared to the Rangers' 11 assists and 20 turnovers. The Bulldogs finished with a 25-14 edge in points off turnovers and a 20-11 margin on the offensive glass in second chance scoring.

Ferris State will resume GLIAC play on Thursday, Jan. 4, as the Bulldogs host Wayne State inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. (ET).
