Prepped at Chicago Bogan High School where he was one of the city's top performers and ranked as one of the top 10 point guards in the state of Illinois, averaging 10 points, seven assists, two steals and two boards a game. A high flyer with great court vision and passing skills, Washington was coached by Arthur Goodwin on the prep level and led his team to a 22-7 mark as a junior. Washington was ranked as one of the top 35 players overall by Illinois Prep Hoops and played AAU basketball for the Young and Reckless program under coach Aubrey Denard.
