The winner of the GLIAC Tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament slated to be held March 12-15 at a campus site yet to be determined.
In 2018, Ferris State captured its second-straight league tournament title on its home floor as the Bulldogs began postseason play with three-straight GLIAC Tournament wins inside Wink Arena en route to a historic 38-1 national championship campaign. The Bulldogs will be making their eighth-straight GLIAC Tournament appearance this year.
The other first-round matchups in the GLIAC Tournament on Wednesday include second-seeded Michigan Tech hosting seventh-seeded Parkside, third-seeded Northern Michigan entertaining sixth-seeded Lake Superior State and fourth-seeded Saginaw Valley State playing host to fifth-seeded Grand Valley State. As the number one seed, Ferris State would host the GLIAC Semifinals and Finals in men's basketball next Saturday and Sunday (March 5-6) with a first-round win.
This year will represent FSU's 22nd overall GLIAC Tournament appearance. FSU is now 22-19 all-time in league tourney action. The Bulldogs have captured five league tourney titles in program history, including 1997-98 along with 2015-18.
