Ferris State Dominates Fanshawe In High-Scoring Home Tilt

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad topped the 100-point mark for the third consecutive game, beating Fanshawe (Ontario) by a decisive 114-60 score on Thursday (Dec. 29) night inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

A total of seven Bulldog players reached double-figure scoring in the squad's first game back from the holiday break as FSU improved to 9-4 overall. It marked the fifth time overall in which the Bulldogs reached the century mark and fourth time in the last six outings.

The Bulldogs jumped out to the early lead and never trailed in the game, opening up a 61-31 halftime lead and pushing the margin to as many as 56 points late in the contest.

Overall, Ferris State shot 64.5% for the night and made nine-of-27 (33.3%) three's along with seven-of-12 (58.3%) free throws.

FSU was paced by Solomon Oraegbu with 19 points and Ben Davidson, who scored 17 points. Sophomore Ethan Erickson went four-of-eight from long range and netted 14 points while the trio of Deng Reng, Jimmy Scholler and Vejas Grazulis all had 13 points apiece. The Bulldogs also got 12 points from Mykel Bingham, including several thunderous dunks.

Scholler led an unselfish FSU attack that netted 38 assists with 10 of his own in a double-double effort. Teammate Amari Lee added seven assists while Brandon Claerbaut had four. All 10 Ferris State players that saw action had at least one assist in the contest.

The Bulldogs dominated the game statistically as they outrebounded the Falcons 50-24 and produced a 74-34 edge in points scored inside the paint. FSU also outscored Fanshawe 19-0 in points off turnovers and 33-17 on the break along with 19-6 on the offensive glass.

Defensively, Ferris State held the opposition to only 36.4% shooting with the Falcons hitting six-of-24 (25.0%) three's and six-of-nine (66.7%) free throws.

Ferris State was led on the glass by Reng, Grazulis and Reece Hazelton as all three had eight rebounds each. The Bulldogs also finished with eight steals and five blocked shots while turning the ball over only six times overall.

Fanshawe was led by Josh Loblaw with 18 points. Aidan Whalen added 14 points, but was the only other Falcon player to reach double-figure scoring.

Ferris State will continue its eight-game homestead on Saturday (Dec. 31) as the Bulldogs host regional foe Lewis (Ill.) in a New Year's Eve matchup starting at 1 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena.
