#13 Ferris State Pulls Out One-Point Regional Road Victory At Ashland

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad, which is ranked 13th nationally this week, pulled out a 75-74 regional road win on Wednesday (Nov. 20) over Ashland at Kates Gymnasium in Ashland, Ohio.

The victory was the sixth-straight for the Bulldogs, who are now 6-1 overall this year.

Ferris State jumped in front early and led 35-32 at halftime in the win over the Eagles. The game was back and forth down the stretch before FSU senior guard Jimmy Scholler hit the go-ahead free throw with break a 74-74 deadlock with three seconds to play and a potential game-winner from AU missed the mark as time expired.

Senior guard Ethan Erickson sparked the Bulldog attack with a team-high 25 points in the win. FSU also got 16 points from Donovan Brown-Boyd off the bench along with 12 points from Mykel Bingham and seven by Scholler. Erickson finished with five made three's and Brown-Boyd went four-of-four behind the three-point arc.

FSU made 12-of-27 (44.4%) three's in the victory and the Bulldogs sank 11-of-12 (91.7%) free throws while shooting 44.1% overall from the floor.

Both teams finished with 30 rebounds in the game and FSU had only 11 turnovers compared to 13 by the Eagles. Ferris State also recorded four steals and three blocked shots.

The Eagles were led by Maceo Williams with a game-high 27 points. Aden Gregory added 14 points off the bench while Cooper Davis scored 11 points and Jaron Crews chipped in 10 points.

AU suffered the loss despite shooting 55.6% from the floor and 47.1% (8-17) from the three-point line. The Eagles did made only six-of-11 (54.5%) free throws.

Ferris State will return home to host another longtime regional foe in nationally 25th-ranked Findlay on Saturday (Nov. 23) inside Jim Wink Arena starting at 3 p.m. (ET).
