#13 Ferris State Uses Huge Second-Half To Beat #25 Findlay In Regional Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - A huge second-half of play lifted nationally 13th-ranked Ferris State University to an impressive 100-76 victory over 25th-ranked Findlay on Saturday (Nov. 23) in regional play at Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs took a 46-40 halftime lead in a high-scoring opening half, but came back to outscore the Oilers 54-36 the rest of the way en route to their seventh consecutive victory. FSU is now 7-1 overall this year.

Ferris State shot 59.7% from the floor and made 13-of-25 (52%) three's while sinking 13-of-16 (81.3%) free throws. FSU also outrebounded Findlay 43-31 on the glass and dished out 28 assists in the contest.

Senior forward Reece Hazelton tallied a game-high 20 points for the Bulldogs on seven-of-eight shooting, including three-of-four from beyond the three-point line. He also added eight rebounds and four assists.

Meanwhile, senior guard Ethan Erickson nailed four-of-eight three's and contributed 16 points. Donovan Brown-Boyd came off the bench to tally 15 points in the FSU win, shooting five-of-seven from the three-point arc. FSU also got 10 points and 10 rebounds with four blocked shots from junior center Nathan Claerbaut while junior Mykel Bingham posted 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

The Bulldogs limited Findlay to 40.5% shooting overall and the Oilers were only seven-of-30 (23.3%) from deep along with just nine-of-18 (50%) at the free throw line. UF had 12 turnovers compared to 19 on the FSU end and the Oilers totaled 11 steals in the setback.

For Findlay, Ian Ioppolo totaled 17 points, Mason Brandt scored 15 points, Anthony Johnson contributed 11 points and Steele Meister recorded 10 points.

Ferris State held Findlay 27 points below its season average of 103 points per game entering the contest. The Oilers suffered their first loss of the year in falling to 4-1 overall.

Ferris State will host Grace Christian on Tuesday (Nov. 26) in its final game before the Thanksgiving holiday at Wink Arena with tipoff set for 7 p.m. (ET).
