Big Rapids, Mich. - The nation's fifth-ranked Ferris State University men's basketball squad earned a key 81-67 regional triumph over Cedarville (Ohio) on the road Thursday (Dec. 19) evening.
The Bulldogs bolted in front and led 38-29 at halftime before outscoring the Yellow Jackets 43-38 over the final 20 minutes to move to 11-1 overall this year.
FSU senior guard Ethan Erickson tallied a game-high 29 points and went six-of-11 from the three-point arc in the Bulldog triumph.
Senior forward Reece Hazelton also reached double-figure scoring for FSU with 11 points in the victory. Junior Mykel Bingham added nine points off the bench and junior guard Tyler Hamilton chipped in with eight points.
Ferris State shot 50% from the floor and went eight-of-23 (34.8%) from long range in addition to nine-of-11 (81.8%) at the free throw stripe.
On the opposite end, the Bulldogs limited Cedarville to only 33.8% shooting, which included a seven-of-29 (24.1%) figure from three-point range. CU finished 16-of-20 (80.0%) at the free throw line.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Jaylen Davis with 18 points. Anthony Ruffolo added 17 points off the bench.
Ferris State will return home to host Lambton (Ontario) on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Wink Arena. Tipoff has been moved up to 11 a.m. (ET).
