
Ferris State Hosts Roosevelt For First Time In Big Monday Night Matchup
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads open up a busy week of action as the Bulldogs host Roosevelt University in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on Monday (Feb. 3) evening inside Jim Wink Arena.
The Lakers, who joined the GLIAC this year, will make their first-ever trip to Big Rapids for the "Big Monday" encounter. It will be a a "Blackout" game with fans encouraged to wear black for the game and the Bulldogs slated to don their black uniforms.
In addition, Monday's twin bill is also serving as "Community Heroes Night" and all first responders, including police, fire and medical personnel, will get free admission at the door by showing their badge or ID card.
The women's game tips off at 5:30 p.m. (ET) with the men's contest slated to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m. (ET).
Both Ferris State squads currently sit in second place overall in the GLIAC standings with the men holding an 18-4 overall record and the women currently 15-5 on the year.
Earlier this season, both FSU teams beat Roosevelt in the first matchups between the two schools in Chicago with the women winning by a 96-43 score and the men coming away with a 95-72 triumph. Presently, Roosevelt is 6-11 on the year and 4-7 in the GLIAC in women's competition while the RU men's team is 6-13 overall and 3-8 in conference play.
Following Monday night's doubleheader, both Bulldog teams will hit the road for a pair of West Michigan rivalry matchups later this week, visiting Davenport on Thursday (Feb. 6) night and Grand Valley State on Saturday (Feb. 8) afternoon.
Monday nighty's action will be carried live on Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network with pregame coverage beginning a half-hour prior to the women's contest. An online audio stream is available at FerrisStateBulldogs.com and both games will be streamed on a pay-per-view basis on FloSports.
