Ferris State Basketball Squads Featured Among Top 10 Teams In Region Under Consideration For NCAA Tourney

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads, which both reached the NCAA Division II Elite Eight a year ago, are both again featured among the top 10 teams under consideration this week in the initial NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings as announced by the NCAA.

Both the Bulldog men's and women's teams are listed in this week's alphabetical ranking of the top 10 squads in the Midwest Region. This week's ranking marks the first set of regional rankings this year and the rankings will be unveiled in numerical order beginning next week.

Along with Ferris State, the men's teams featured in the top 10 also include Findlay, Lake Superior State, Lewis, Lincoln (Mo.), Michigan Tech, Missouri S&T, Missouri-St. Louis, Truman State (Mo.) and Upper Iowa. FSU currently is tied with both Findlay and Lake Superior State with a region-best 19 Division II wins this campaign.

Meanwhile, in the women's rankings, the Bulldogs are joined by Ashland, Findlay, Grand Valley State, Hillsdale, Lewis, Malone, Northern Michigan, Wayne State and Parkside.

Ferris State is one of three teams in the Midwest Region to have both its men's and women's squads featured among the top 10 along with Findlay and Lewis.

Overall, eight teams will be included in the tournament field when the official NCAA Division II selection announcement takes place following conference tournament play on Sunday, March 9. The women's regional tourney will take place March 14-17 with the men's set for March 15-18 at campus sites to be announced. The eight teams will include three automatic berths handed out to the league tournament winners in each of the three conferences in the region.

The Bulldog men's basketball squad has made 18 all-time NCAA Tournament appearances to date, including eight trips to the big dance in the last 10 years. Meanwhile, the women's squad has earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament seven times in program history. The Bulldogs had both teams earn invitations to the tourney in the same season both in 2020 when the event was cancelled due to COVID along with 2022 and 2024 when both captured the Midwest Regional Championship.

Presently, the men's squad owns a 21-6overall record to date this season while the women are 17-8 on the year.

Ferris State will host Purdue Northwest on Thursday (Feb. 20) evening in a GLIAC doubleheader with the women's game beginning at 5:30 p.m. (ET) followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m. (ET). FSU then hosts Parkside on Saturday (Feb. 22) in the regular-season home finale with the Senior Day games starting at 1 p.m. (ET) for the women and 3 p.m. (ET) for the men.
