
Ferris State Falls In GLIAC Tourney Semifinals To Lake Superior State In Houghton

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad fell short by a 93-76 score to Lake Superior State in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals on Saturday (March 8) at the Student Development Complex Gymnasium in Houghton.
The Bulldogs fell behind 52-42 at halftime before trimming the margin to five points early in the second frame. However, LSSU finished with a 41-34 scoring advantage over the final 20 minutes in coming away with the win to reach the league tournament final.
LSSU sank 15-of-28 (53.5%) three's and went 51.5% from the floor overall in notching the win to move to 27-5 overall this year. The Lakers also finished eight-of-11 (.727) at the free throw line and held a 39-32 rebounding edge.
Senior Tyson Edmondson led the Lakers with a game-high 29 points while Hunter Soper added 20 points, off of which came in the opening half. Kingsley Perkins chipped in 13 points, Andy Soma scored 12 points and Adam Harakow netted 10 points for LSSU.
The Bulldogs were led by senior guard Ethan Erickson with 16 points overall. Senior Reece Hazelton added 13 points and junior Nathan Claerbaut finished with 10 points.
FSU shot 46.9% from the floor and made 10-of-23 (43.5%) three's along with six-of-10 (60%) free throws.
The Bulldogs gave up 14 offensive boards and LSSU held a decisive 24-4 edge in second chance production while also outscoring the Bulldogs 26-9 in points off turnovers.
Ferris State fell to 25-8 overall this year with the setback.
The Bulldogs, who were ranked fourth in the most recent NCAA D2 Midwest Regional Rankings, will now await the NCAA Selection Show slated to take place on Sunday evening at 11 p.m. (ET) at NCAA.com.
