Bio

Drew Bronkema serves as an assistant coach on the Bulldog staff. A 2010 graduate of McBain High School, Bronkema was a multisport athlete that played four years of high school basketball, including a state semifinal run during the 2008-09 season. He attended Central Michigan University and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management while minoring in Business Administration & Coaching.

From 2010-2021, he worked as an assistant to a hall of fame inducted high school basketball coach. The stint included being a contributing part of a Division 3 state final appearance (2011) and Division 3 state semifinal appearance (2016).

Additionally, from 2016-18, he also assisted girls varsity basketball, while also coaching the junior varsity team. Beginning in the fall of 2018, he was hired for the varsity girls basketball head coaching job. Taking over a program with a losing record, he maintained a winning record each year and held a 58-23 record over the four-year stint, while being state ranked the final two years, which included two district titles and two conference titles. He was also nominated and voted the winner of the Region 13 Girls Basketball Coach of the Year honor in 2021 and 2022.

Bronkema's other basketball experience includes assisting in running a youth basketball program of 120-170 kids from 2007-2022, running youth summer basketball camps and training over 20 athletes (3rd grade through collegiate) during the summer months. He has also attended several collegiate practices at various institutions along with Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan events and AAU tournaments.
