Bulldogs Fall In Great Lakes Invitational Semi-Final

Detroit, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team fell 4-1 to the Michigan Wolverines in the 55th Annual Great Lakes Invitational on Monday (Dec. 30) at Little Caesars Arena in the GLI Semi-Final.

Ferris State freshman forward Brenden MacLaren scored the Bulldog goal while senior goaltender Austin Shaw made 29 saves for the Bulldogs.

Michigan forward Jake Slaker scored the game's first two goals, first at 8:31 of the first on the power play, and gave the Wolverines a 2-0 lead at 14:22 of the second period.

The Wolverines made it 3-0 at 12:55 of the third period when Will Lockwood finished on a breakaway.

Ferris State broke Michigan goaltender Strauss Mann's shutout bid at 18:15 of the third period when MacLaren banked a backhander from behind the goal off of Mann for his second goal of the year. Junior forward Marshall Moise picked up his fifth assist of the year on the goal.

Michigan added an empty netter at 19:02 of the third when Dakota Raabe scored for the Wolverines.

Ferris State went 0-3 on the power play while Michigan went 1-2. The Wolverines held a 33-23 shots on goal advantage. Mann made 22 saves in goal for the Wolverines and picked up the win.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday (Dec. 31) at Little Caesars Arena at 11:30 am (ET) when they take on the Michigan State Spartans to finish out the decade.
