Bulldogs Earn Points Split At #20 Bemidji State Following Saturday OT Decision

Bemidji, Minn. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team forced overtime to earn a point at nationally #20-ranked Bemidji State on Saturday (Nov. 5), but fell 2-1 in the extra session the Sanford Center in Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) action.

Ferris State sophomore goaltender Noah Giesbrecht made 32 stops for the Bulldogs, allowing just two goals on the night in a strong start.

The Beavers got out to a hot start at 12:38 of the first period when Alexander Lundman got alone at the right side of the goal for a 1-0 Beaver lead.

Ferris State evened the contest at 1-1 when sophomore forward Brad Marek buried his third goal of the year at 1:19 of the third period, with freshman forward Caiden Gault picking up his first collegiate point, an assist, on the play.

For the second straight night, the contest required overtime, as the Bulldogs claimed at least a points split on the weekend when regulation came to a close.

Bemidji State captured the extra point, winning at 30 seconds of overtime when Ross Armour scored to win it for the Beavers.

The Beavers held a 34-17 shots on goal margin, though nine of the margin was built in the first period with the game more evenly played through the second and third. Gavin Enright earned the win in goal for BSU on 16 stops.

Ferris State returns home for a one game exhibition contest with Mercyhurst on Saturday (Nov. 12) at the Ewigleben Ice Arena at 1 p.m. (ET). The Bulldogs will celebrate Veterans Day and Canada's Remembrance Day. Tickets are $9 for all active duty, reserve and veterans from both countries.

Current FSU students also enter free with their ID's Saturday in the annual free for students game.
