Bulldog Co-Captain Matt Slick Signs Professional Deal With Adirondack Thunder

Glens Falls, New York - The Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL have signed Ferris State senior defenseman Matt Slick to his first professional contract, a standard player contract.

Slick, a native of Buffalo, New York, joined the Bulldogs as a graduate transfer from the College of the Holy Cross for the 2022-23 season. He was voted captain by his teammates after just seven weeks on campus.

In 34 games, Slick finished with 11 points and tied for the team defenseman lead in goal-scoring (4) with fellow co-captain and senior, Brenden MacLaren. Slick had 39 points (13-26-39) in 155 games on the collegiate level.

Slick finished with 155 games played at the NCAA Division I level, the most among active Bulldogs, and served also as a captain for Holy Cross prior to his transfer to Ferris State.

The Thunder are fifth in the ECHL's Northern conference. Slick will join several former members of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), including goaltender Mareks Mitens (Lake Superior State), Brandon Schultz (Northern Michigan), Nick Rivera (Minnesota State), and Matt Jennings (St. Thomas).

Adirondack plays the Worcester Railers in three-straight contests starting Wednesday (March 22) with a Friday-Saturday back-to-back at home. The ECHL uses FloHockey for all streaming. Fans who paid for FloHockey during the season can watch Slick for no additional cost.
