Big Rapids, Mich. – The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team wrapped up its weekend series against Michigan Tech Saturday (Nov. 9) with a 3-1 loss to the Huskies in Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) play.

The Bulldogs (2-8-2, 1-5-0 CCHA) got their lone goal from Kaleb Ergang midway through the first period. Michigan Tech got off to a fast start, scoring all three of their goals in the first seven minutes of play.

Freshman goaltender Connor McDonough drew his first collegiate start between the pipes for Ferris State, surrendering all three of MTU's goals in 6:52 of game action, making one save in his debut.

Logan Morrell scored his first career goal at 5:47, giving Michigan Tech an early 1-0 lead on the road. Owen Baker and Kasper Vaharautio each collected assists.

Stiven Sardarian scored his second goal of the weekend at 6:28 with Max Koskipirtti getting his second assist in as many nights. Rylan Brown finished the game with a two-assist performance, and he collected his first helper of the evening on Sardarian's goal.

Later, at 6:52, Jack Works lit the lamp for the first time this year to give MTU a 3-0 lead before the halfway point of period one. Brown got his second assist and Isaac Gordon also had a helper.

FSU used its timeout after Works' goal and elected to make a goaltender change. Noah West entered and played the next 50:23, making 19 saves on 19 shots faced. He was pulled for the extra attacker with 2:45 remaining.

FSU's lone goal of the evening came from Ergang at 9:56 in the third. Holden Doell threw a pass into the low slot for Ergang, who redirected the puck into the net for FSU's third goal of the series. Doell collected his third assist this year, while Ergang lit the lamp for the first time.

Ferris State sent the extra attacker on with 2:45 left, pulling West from the game. They generated five shot attempts, but the Huskies blocked four of them and goaltender Derek Mullahy made a save on FSU's other attempt, sealing a weekend sweep for the Huskies with a 3-1 win.

In total, FSU had 37 shots on goal, tying a season high previously set against Miami (Ohio) in the season opener. MTU had just 23 shots that were on target.

Ergang, Matt Corbet, Logan Heroux, Jacob Badal and Cole Burtch each had four shots on goal to lead the Bulldogs. Travis Shoudy blocked two shots, and the Bulldogs killed the only power play opportunity Michigan Tech had. FSU was also 0-2 on their power play tries and dominated the faceoff circle with 38 wins and 22 losses. Zach Faremouth had 14 wins for the second consecutive night, finishing Saturday's game with an impressive 14 wins on 15 total draws.
