Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad continued action at the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships on Sunday (Sept. 18) in Indianapolis.
The Bulldogs' doubles tandem of Jan Koupil and Benjamin Lortie won a pair of doubles contests in the main Flight A draw on Sunday to advance to the regional doubles semifinals, which are set for Monday morning at 8 a.m. (ET) in the event hosted by the University of Indianapolis.
A total of 23 schools are taking part in the Midwest Regional Championships and the doubles draw is down from a total of 32 teams to the final four. The winners of the semifinal matches on Monday morning advance to the regional doubles final later in the day with the regional champion advancing to the ITA Cup National Championships next month in Rome, Ga. Along with the automatic bid for the regional champions, the runner-up team from the Midwest Region has also earned one of the few at-large bids in recent years.
Lortie also took part in the singles round and continued on a winning path until pulling out of the draw to focus on the doubles semifinals.
Bulldog freshman Kacper Pasielak posted yet another singles victory and played an outstanding match in the following round before dropping a tightly-contested contest in the third set.
