Bulldog Tennis Competitors Claim Respective Draw Championships On Final Day At ITA Regionals
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad concluded action on Monday (Sept. 30) at the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships.
FSU freshman Milo Leuenberger won the main C draw singles championship and the main C draw doubles championship with freshman partner Pi Wellington during Monday's final day of action at the regional event hosted by Davenport University.
In addition, the Bulldogs' Kevin Kovacs and Felipe Iser went on to win the A back draw championship.
The Bulldogs had been one of only four schools out of the 23 competing institutions to advance four players in the top A singles draw over the weekend as all four earned a first-round victory, including Kovacs with an opening-round triumph over the #16 seed.
"I'm really happy with our overall results this weekend," said FSU head coach Mark Doren. "We didn't look like the young team we are. Many of the underclassmen fought like upperclassman and that's all I can ask for.
"We are done competing for the fall so now we focus on the things we need to work on to get ready for our spring championship season," he added.
