Bulldog Tennis Teams Bounce Back For Big Home Sweep Over Davenport

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis teams bounced back in a big way on Saturday (March 29) as the Bulldogs swept Davenport in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

Ferris State won the men's match by a 4-3 score and pulled out a 5-2 on the women's side.

In the men's competition, the Bulldogs dropped the doubles point although the tandem of Felipe Iser and Alessandro Santangelo came away with a 6-2 win at three doubles.

In the singles round, the Bulldogs came back as Kevin Kovacs earned a three-set win at one singles and Erik Kovacs was a straight-set winner at the third flight. Iser came away with a victory at the fourth spot in the lineup and Adrian Catahan claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win at six singles to secure the triumph.

The Ferris State women, meanwhile, started strong as the Bulldogs took all three doubles matches. Kennedy Dumas teamed up with Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer for a win at the one flight while Yara Madi and Aimee Reynoso dominated by a 6-1 score at two doubles. Finally, Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer and Ayva Johnstone registered a 6-2 win at the third flight.

In the singles round, Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer was victorious at the top spot in the lineup. FSU then swept the last three positions as Reynoso won at four singles, Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer picked up a victory at the fifth spot and Katherine Earnest notched a straight-set triumph at six singles.

The Bulldog women's team will close out the weekend at home on Sunday (March 30) versus Saginaw Valley State starting at 12 p.m. (ET).
