Bulldog Tennis Teams Both Advance To GLIAC Tourney Semifinals!

Big Rapids, Mich. - Both the Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads advanced to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals as each team posted quarterfinal-round wins in the annual event on Friday (April 25) in Midland.

The Bulldog women's team topped Davenport by a 4-3 score and the men beat Lake Superior State 4-1 to move on in the conference tournament.

With the win, the Bulldog men's team will next face second-seeded Wayne State on Saturday (April 26) at 11 a.m. (ET). The winner will then play in the championship match on Sunday (April 27) starting at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, the women will take on second-seeded Grand Valley State on Saturday at 3 p.m. (ET) and the final is set for Sunday at 3 p.m.

"It was such an awesome day for Bulldog Tennis on Friday," said head coach Mark Doren. "Both teams had big wins. The men's match was closer than the score shows and a special shoutout to the LSSU men's team for playing so tough in what was their last college match with their discontinuation of tennis.

"We lost the doubles point in the men's match, but came back strong with solid singles performances," he added. "The women's match was full of drama. With the match tied 3-3, Maria Hernandez Ferrer came up with one of the best matches of her career to clinch the match in front of a large loud crowd."
