
Eleven Ferris State Tennis Standouts Named To 2025 All-GLIAC Team
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads were well-represented on the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) teams for the 2024-25 campaign as the league announced its annual postseason award recipients in conjunction with the conference tournament this past weekend in Midland.
The Bulldogs had a total of 11 student-athletes garner all-conference recognition in balloting by the league's member head coaches, including five from the men's squad and six on the women's side.
Ferris State's Kevin Kovacs and Alessandro Santangelo both garnered All-GLIAC First Team recognition in singles play for the Bulldog men's team. In addition, Erik Kovacs and Kevin Kovacs picked up All-GLIAC First Team doubles honors. The Bulldogs' Adrian Catahan earned GLIAC Honorable Mention laurels.
In addition, FSU's Santangelo claimed the GLIAC Sportsmanship Award.
Meanwhile, on the women's end, the Bulldogs' Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer was an All-GLIAC First Team selection in singles play. Yara Madi garnered All-GLIAC Second Team honors in singles. The duo of Kennedy Dumas and Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer along with Aimee Reynoso and Madi both attained second-team doubles recognition while Katherine Earnest was an honorable mention all-conference performer.
Both Ferris State teams advanced to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals this past weekend at the league tournament and both remain in line to receive potential NCAA Tournament berths when the official selections are announced on Monday (May 5) evening at NCAA.com.
